Member of the Month

Sheetal Parikh has been a dietitian since 1999. She has Bachelors in Foods and Nutrition and Master’s in Dietetics from India. She was a lecturer at Maharaja Sayajirao University in India teaching nutrition to under graduates. She also worked as consultant and researcher in nutrition related areas for private and governmental organizations conducting active research in prevalence of malnutrition in children and adults in India. Her article on ‘The Potential of Amylase Rich Foods added Root Vegetables Slurry for Promoting Geriatric Nutrition’, was published in Indian Journal of Gerontology in 1999 edition.

After coming to USA and facing many challenges for 15 years, she acquired one more Bachelor’s degree from Keiser University, Lakeland, Florida and fulfilled her dream to work in the profession she was always most passionate about, Dietetics and Nutrition. While in the college she wrote an inspirational blog which also got posted in Foods and Nutrition Magazine, September/October 2017 edition. Below is the link:


She was awarded Florida Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics honors “Outstanding Student Award in the State of Florida” for the year 2017-2018 during the FAND annual meeting at Ft. Lauderdale, 2017.

She is currently working as a Clinical Dietitian at the Heart of Florida Hospital, Haines City, Florida. She is also serving currently on the fund raising committee for FAND.

She is very friendly, helpful and a strong believer that Positivity, Perseverance, Dedication and Alacrity are the key to ONE’s success!!

Our membership is comprised of registered dietitians, diet technicians registered, licensed nutritionists, and students.  OAND members work in a variety of settings including hospitals and clinics, universities and research centers, schools, businesses and industry, public health units, health and fitness centers, physicians offices and private practice.

In order to be an official member of OAND you must be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and choose Florida as your state affiliation.

We have 4 formal meetings per year with CEUs available, 2 organized socials, multiple volunteer events, and informal meet-ups at various local restaurants and businesses. Come try a new brewery or aerial yoga class with us!
